Welcome to the Poundmaker Cree Nation website. This website provides our viewers with information about the various services Poundmaker Cree Nation offers. 

The Poundmaker Cree Nation is a First Nation reserve, located near Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. It is a Treaty 6 Nation, started by the famous Cree Chief Pitikwahanapiwiyin in 1876. The band has a growing amount of 1281 members, with 505 living on the reserve.  Its location is Northwest of North Battleford and Saskatoon.  The Famous actor Gordon Tootoosis was born on the Poundmaker Cree Nation

UPDATE

The Exoneration Ceremony 

Location: National Historic Site on the Poundmaker Cree Nation Indian Reserve (North of Cut Knife, Sk and South of Paynton, Sk). There will be signage.

Pipe Ceremony: 7:00am

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will arrive: 11:45pm

Program Start: 12pm - 2pm

Plan to arrive by 11am

Parking Attendants will direct traffic. Ambassadors will meet and greet VIPs and direct to reserved seating under the big top (by the Grave Site).

Please bring an umbrella, own water, bagged lunch and portable chairs for potential overflow. We are trying our best to accommodate anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 people.

Following the prayer, speeches and gift exchanges, honour songs, there will be a moment of sillence and cannon shoot.

Treaty Annuity payments for PCN Members will be held after the formal program. The museum and art gallery will be open until 5pm.

 EXONERATION OF CHIEF POUNDMAKER CEREMONY UPDATE

ON BEHALF OF THE PCN COMMUNITY/C&C, FIRST  FOREMOST THE GOVERMENT OF CANADA, ON BEHALF OF HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN, HAS AGREED & COMMITTED TO FORMALLY APOLOGIZING  FOR THE IMPRISONMENT OF CHIEF POUNDMAKER & EXONERATING HIM OF ALL THE WRONG DOINGS BACK TO 1885. THAT  WILL BE DONE.

SECONDLY, WE AGREED TO MOVE THE EVENT FROM MAY 2ND TO A NEW DATE TO ACCOMMODATE THE MOST SENIOR OFFICIALS FROM CANADA TO BE THERE ON THE HISTORIC BATTLE SITE HILL. WE ARE PRESSING FOR THE NEW DATE SO PLEASE BE PATIENT.

THE PLAN IS TO ALSO HAVE OUR TREATY DAY ANNUITY PAYMENT ON THE SAME DAY AS THE EXONERATION EVENT.

NOW, THE TRADITIONAL CEREMONY TO BE WILL BE THE FEAST THAT FLOYD FAVEL IS ORGANIZING IS STILL GOING AHEAD ON  WEDNESDAY MAY 1, 2019 AT NOON. THAT IS A CEREMONIAL DATE WE ARE KEEPING ON AS SCHEDULES. WE CANNOT CHANGE THAT. WE ARE HONOURING OUR PAST GREAT LEADERS & WARRIORS. BRING YOUR PLATES,BOWLS & UTENSILS & LETS EAT TOGETHER.

*COMMUNITY COMPLAINT PROCESS*

 

 

Copies of an unsigned/undated complaint letter was produced against certain staff members. Through discussion, it was decided a grievance procedure is needed. Suggested Grievance Procedure:

  • In the case of grievance, and "Incident Report" is filed. This triggers the process. The Incident Report is signed and dated then forwarded to Human Resoureces. Based on the information of the Incident Report,the HR will investigate the complaint.
  • The named staff member(s) on the Incident Report shall be interviewed to get her/his/their side of the complaint
  • Once all the information is gathered the HR will decide whether the complaint is groundless or substantiated.
  • If the Incident Report findings prove groundless; then Human Resoureces will meet the Community member to discuss the findings and decision.
  • If the Incident Report findings are substantiated, then the HR will meet with the staff member and the PCN Personnel Manual Progressive Discipline
